The following is a repost of the announcement from our parent imprint, Snowy Wings Publishing, on the launch of Crimson Fox Publishing.
Last year we affiliated with Animus Ferrum Publishing, LLC, a preexisting company, to partner with us and serve as a sister imprint to Snowy Wings Publishing. This allowed us to shift our focus entirely to books for teens—middle grade and young adult—and, we hoped, would allow the new adult and adult books formerly under the Snowy Wings banner to flourish without being stuck in the shadow of our YA books.
It’s been a year now, and we decided to take a step back and look at how the arrangement was working out for us. At the end of the day, the founder of Animus Ferrum Publishing, LLC decided that the co-op model utilized by Snowy Wings Publishing was not the best business model for her company. So we’ve decided to amicably split our organizations and disaffiliate from Animus Ferrum and its romance imprint Caleo Press. Those companies will continue under a new hybrid publishing* business model, and will no longer be affiliated with Snowy Wings Publishing.
All the authors in Animus Ferrum and Caleo were given the option to stay with those imprints and shift to the new model, or stick with the co-op model and return to Snowy Wings. So what does that mean, exactly?
It means that we are pleased to announce that we are founding our own adult imprint (as opposed to affiliating with an existing company), which means we will have control over the publisher’s direction and will be able to stay true to the co-op vision that Snowy Wings has embodied for the last three years.
Please give a warm welcome to our new label, Crimson Fox Publishing!
Crimson Fox Publishing will focus on new adult and adult books of all genres (our previous sister imprints were focused on speculative fiction and romance). Like with Snowy Wings’ website, you’ll be able to browse the Crimson Fox website and view all books or sort by your preferred genre. We’re excited to be adding new genres that we were previously unable to feature under our old arrangement, such as mystery, historical fiction, and women’s fiction. Please note that Crimson Fox’s content will vary from squeaky clean to very hot and spicy; any books with explicit sexual content or graphic violence will contain a content note on their book listing on the website.
Crimson Fox Publishing is just the beginning for our exciting expansions in 2020. Keep watching this space, because we’re going to have another exciting announcement later this year!
* Note: While we are also classified as a hybrid publisher by the IBPA, as a co-op our organization is very different than most traditional hybrid publishers—e.g., the fact that we’re an author-run cooperative, not a corporation.
